Designed as a hands-on practical experience, this 2.5-hour landscape photography workshop is perfect for photographers looking to improve their skills in the field while capturing the stunning coastal scenery of northern Tasmania.
Beginning at 3:45PM on Saturday, the workshop focuses on helping you confidently use your camera in changing light and challenging conditions. You'll learn how to achieve consistently sharp, well-exposed images, understand the technical settings behind successful landscape photography, and make the most of the beautiful light leading into sunset.
Throughout the workshop, you'll receive personalised guidance from your instructor as you photograph a variety of coastal compositions. Along the way, we'll cover camera settings, composition, working with filters, reading the light, and techniques for capturing scenes with greater dynamic range and creative impact. With plenty of opportunities to ask questions and receive individual feedback, you'll leave with practical skills that you can immediately apply to your future landscape photography adventures.

Essential Landscape Photography Gear
Discover which equipment is worth investing in, including lens selection, tripods, filters, remote shutters, and other accessories. Learn when each piece of gear is useful and how it can improve your results.
Camera Settings & Understanding Your Histogram
Take the mystery out of Manual Mode. You'll learn how ISO, aperture and shutter speed work together to achieve the correct exposure, as well as how to use your camera's histogram to accurately expose scenes with challenging lighting.
Composition Techniques
Learn the principles of strong composition to create images that are visually engaging. We'll explore techniques that help guide the viewer's eye, simplify complex scenes, and produce more impactful photographs.
Planning & Working with Natural Light
Successful landscape photography begins long before you press the shutter. Learn how to plan your shoots around weather conditions, tides, seasons and the quality of natural light, along with tips for predicting spectacular sunset conditions along the Tasmanian coastline.
Post-Processing Workflow
Capture images with editing in mind by learning the best file formats and in-camera techniques. We'll discuss blending multiple exposures for greater dynamic range, creating panoramic images, and other post-processing considerations to help you maximise the quality of your final photographs.

My goal with this handbook was to tread the fine-line between providing detailed & thorough information without it becoming too overwhelming for the readers. There are many graphic and photo examples and I share only the necessary information, all based off of my 11 years as a landscape photographer.
Why a Nature By Nathan Workshop?
I have been passionately photographing Australia over a decade, and for many of those years I have also been running workshops and tours. Ranging from 1.5hours to 15 days! Nothing brings me greater joy than sharing that passion with other keen photographers.
The goal of my services is to offer value for money in both the experiences and education - There are no photography secrets on my workshops or tours, I will share everything I know when it comes to helping you become a better photographer.

I do not treat these events as my own personal photography trip. I only plan tours at locations where I am knowledgeable and experienced. This tour is about you. Whilst I may have my own cameras in hand throughout some of this experience, it is likely for demonstrative purposes, and the guest's photography always comes first!

What You Will Need
A DSLR or Mirrorless Camera.
Fully charged camera batteries – I recommend carrying a spare battery.
Memory card with plenty of storage (at least 64gb recommended).
Lenses – If you need advice we will guide you. A wide-angle zoom lens (e.g. 14-24mm/16-35mm) is most appropriate and a mid-range zoom (e.g. 24-105, 70-200) is also very useful.
Lens Filters – A CPL (Circular Polarizer) and/or Neutral Density (ND) filters may come in handy but are not needed.
A good, sturdy tripod.
Good footwear – The rocks here can be quite slippery and sharp.
Appropriate clothing, for the forecast. E.g. a warm jumper and pants, beanie/ gloves if it is forecast to be cold and windy.
